The Importance of Time: Jehovah Saints Church, Gojra, Pakistan

Speaker: Pastor Shoaib Nisar

Church: Jehovah Saints Church, Gojra, Pakistan

  • “What is the most valuable resource we all possess but often take for granted?” The answer is time.

  • Time is a gift from God, and how we use it reflects our priorities and understanding of His purpose for our lives.

  • Key Scripture: “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12)

1. Time is a Gift from God

Key Point: God is the Creator of time, and He has entrusted us with this precious resource.

  • Scripture Reference: Ecclesiastes 3:1: “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”

  • God has ordained specific times and seasons for every event in our lives.

  • Biblical Example:

    • The story of Esther (Esther 4:14): Esther was reminded by Mordecai that she was placed in her position “for such a time as this.”

    • Jesus’ ministry on earth: Jesus understood the importance of time, often saying, “My time has not yet come” (John 2:4).

  • Application:

    • Reflect on how you are using the time God has given you. Are you aligning your schedule with His will?

2. The Brevity of Time

Key Point: Life is short, and we must use our time wisely.

  • Scripture Reference: James 4:14: “What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”

  • Our earthly life is temporary, but what we do with our time has eternal significance.

  • Biblical Example:

    • The parable of the rich fool (Luke 12:16-21): The man focused on storing up earthly wealth, not realizing his time was about to end.

  • Application:

    • Prioritize what truly matters—your relationship with God, your family, and serving others.

3. Redeeming the Time

Key Point: We must make the most of every opportunity.

  • Scripture Reference: Ephesians 5:15-16: “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”

  • Redeeming the time means living intentionally and purposefully.

  • Practical Ways to Redeem Time:

    1. Spend time in prayer and studying God’s Word.

    2. Share the gospel with those who do not know Christ.

    3. Serve others and build relationships that glorify God.

  • Biblical Example:

    • The Apostle Paul: Despite facing imprisonment and persecution, Paul used his time to write letters, preach the gospel, and encourage the church.

  • Application:

    • Identify areas in your life where you are wasting time and make changes to focus on what is eternal.

4. Time and Accountability

Key Point: We will give an account to God for how we used our time.

  • Scripture Reference: Romans 14:12: “So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.”

  • Time is a stewardship issue; we are accountable to God for how we use it.

  • Biblical Example:

    • The parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30): The servants were judged based on how they used the resources entrusted to them, including their time.

  • Application:

    • Live each day with the awareness that you will one day stand before God and give an account of your life.

5. The Eternal Perspective on Time

Key Point: Time on earth is preparation for eternity.

  • Scripture Reference: 2 Corinthians 4:18: “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

  • Our time on earth is an opportunity to prepare for eternity with God.

  • Biblical Example:

    • Noah: He spent years building the ark, obeying God’s command and preparing for the flood. His faithfulness in using his time led to the salvation of his family.

  • Application:

    • Focus on building treasures in heaven rather than on earth (Matthew 6:19-21).

6. Encouragement to Use Time Wisely

Key Point: Using time wisely brings glory to God and fulfillment to our lives.

  • Scripture Reference: Colossians 4:5: “Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.”

  • Practical Encouragements:

    • Start each day with prayer, asking God to guide your time.

    • Set goals that align with God’s purpose for your life.

    • Avoid distractions that pull you away from what is important.

Photos of the Congregation

  • Pastor Shoaib Nisar shared photos of the congregation, showing the vibrant community of believers at Jehovah Saints Church in Gojra.

  • These images remind us of the importance of gathering together as the body of Christ to worship, learn, and encourage one another.

  • Scripture Reference: Hebrews 10:25: “Not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

  • Time is a gift, and how we use it reflects our love for God and our understanding of His purpose for our lives.

  • Closing Scripture: Psalm 31:15: “My times are in Your hands; deliver me from the hands of my enemies, from those who pursue me.”

Groups of people gathered in various settings, wearing colorful clothing in a brick-walled environment. Mix of men, women, and children.
