The Bible, Faith, and Contradictions

Many people leave the Church because they perceive contradictions in the Bible. This perception often arises when the Word is not properly presented. Indeed, the Bible can seem to contradict itself if one does not know how to explain these apparent contradictions with further scripture. Not everyone throughout the Bible held the same beliefs, which is what faith is - a personal belief. Thus, there are many faiths.

Understanding Sin and Faith through Romans 14

To fully understand this, one must read the entire chapter of Romans 14. What is considered a sin for one person may not be a sin for another. Sin is essentially a mistake. For example, in Romans 14, those with weaker faith believe in consuming only herbs, whereas those with stronger faith consume wine and meats. If those with weaker faith consume meat and wine, it is a sin for them because they believe they have done something wrong. However, in God’s eyes, they have not. The stronger faith should not tempt the weaker faith with meat and wine. It hurts them spiritually. Proverbs 17:22 states, “a broken spirit (soul) drieth the bones,” indicating that when those with weaker faith partake in something they believe is wrong, it harms their physical body, even though what they did was acceptable in God’s eyes.

Biblical Figures and Their Faiths

In 2 Samuel 12:7-8, God "gave" David all of Saul’s wives. These women were given to David directly by God Himself, demonstrating that God did not see anything wrong with David having multiple wives. Yet, it is rare to find a preacher who has taught that God “gave” David all of Saul’s wives.

King David had a strong faith and knew this was acceptable in God’s eyes. However, Paul in the Bible, who had a weaker faith or understanding than King David, as Paul believed that a man should only have one wife. This is what preachers often preach because they do not fully understand the Word. This causes confusion. Would you prefer to have a strong faith like King David or a weaker understanding faith like Paul?

Father Abraham had two wives and also had children by his girlfriends. King Solomon had many wives and girlfriends as well. Preachers teach on David’s words in Psalms, and Solomon’s words in Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon, yet they preach against the stronger faiths of David, Solomon, and Abraham, as to having many wives. Yet, it was God who gave these women to them.

Choosing Your Faith

People claim to be descendants of Father Abraham and if they are, shouldn't they strive to embody the values and principles of their forefather? This belief in lineage should motivate individuals to emulate the character and virtues of Abraham in their own lives, reflecting his wisdom, compassion, and integrity. By aligning their actions with the legacy of Abraham, descendants can contribute positively to society and uphold the values that their ancestors stood for. Do you want to be a leader like David, Solomon, and Abraham? If the answer is yes, then preach the truth, because as Jesus said, “the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). Or do you want to be like Paul? The choice is yours. God will love you the same.

"Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:4

This scripture was written by King David, a mighty man of God.

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD."

Isaiah 55:8 This verse explains to us, that our way of "thinking" is not the way God "thinks"
