Jehovah Saints Ministry in Pakistan: Proclaiming the Name of Jehovah

In the city of Kasur, Pakistan, a humble gathering took place at the brick kiln, where Jehovah Saints Ministry brought the gospel to the poor and marginalized. Under the leadership of Evangelist Jamil Masih, the Word of God was preached, with a focus on the divine name "Jehovah," as revealed in the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible. This sacred name, appearing seven times in the KJV, holds profound significance as it encapsulates the power, authority, and presence of God.

Let us delve into the Scriptures that unveil the divine name Jehovah, exploring its meaning and relevance for believers today.

Sermon Theme: "The Divine Name – Unveiling Jehovah in Scripture"

The name Jehovah is not just a title; it is a revelation of God's nature, His covenant relationship with His people, and His eternal authority. Let us examine the seven instances where the name Jehovah appears in the KJV, each revealing a unique aspect of God's character and His interaction with humanity.

1. Psalms 83:18

"That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth."

This verse declares the supremacy of Jehovah, whose name alone signifies His unparalleled authority over the earth. It reminds us that Jehovah is not one among many gods but the Most High, the Creator and Sustainer of all.

Reflection: Jehovah is the ultimate authority in our lives. No matter the challenges we face, His power reigns supreme over all creation.

2. Isaiah 12:2

"Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation."

Here, the prophet Isaiah praises Jehovah as the source of salvation, strength, and deliverance. This verse encourages believers to trust in Jehovah without fear, knowing that He is both their protector and their joy.

Reflection: Jehovah is not only our Savior but also our strength in times of weakness. In Him, we find courage and hope.

3. Exodus 6:3

"And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them."

In this passage, God reveals His name Jehovah to Moses, signifying a deeper understanding of His covenant relationship with Israel. While the patriarchs knew Him as God Almighty, the name Jehovah represents His personal and eternal commitment to His people.

Reflection: Jehovah is a God who reveals Himself to His people in deeper and more personal ways as they walk with Him.

4. Isaiah 26:4

"Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength."

Isaiah calls believers to place their trust in Jehovah, who provides everlasting strength. Unlike human strength, which fades, Jehovah's strength is eternal and unchanging.

Reflection:When we feel weak or uncertain, we can rely on Jehovah's unshakable strength to sustain us.

5. Genesis 22:14

"And Abraham called the name of that place JEHOVAHjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen."

Abraham names the place where God provided a ram for sacrifice Jehovah Jireh, meaning "The Lord Will Provide." This name signifies God's provision in times of need, even in the most desperate circumstances.

Reflection: Jehovah is our provider. Just as He provided for Abraham, He will meet our needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).

6. Exodus 17:15

"And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it JEHOVAHnissi:"

After a victorious battle against the Amalekites, Moses builds an altar and names it Jehovah Nissi, meaning "The Lord Is My Banner." This name reflects God's role as the one who fights for His people and gives them victory.

Reflection: Jehovah is our banner of victory. When we face spiritual battles, we can trust Him to go before us and secure the victory.

7. Judges 6:24

"Then Gideon built an altar there unto the Lord, and called it JEHOVAHshalom: unto this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abiezrites."

After encountering the angel of the Lord, Gideon names the altar Jehovah Shalom, meaning "The Lord Is Peace." This name reveals Jehovah as the source of peace, even in times of turmoil and uncertainty.

Reflection: Jehovah is our peace. In a world filled with chaos, we can find rest and assurance in His presence.

The Significance of Jehovah in the King James Version

The King James Version (KJV) preserves the sacred name Jehovah, allowing us to connect with the Almighty in a profound way. Unfortunately, many modern translations have replaced the name Jehovah with "Lord," losing some of the depth and specificity of this divine name. As believers, we are called to honor and proclaim the name Jehovah, recognizing its significance in revealing God's character and His covenant relationship with us.

Application: Living in the Light of Jehovah's Name

  1. Trust in Jehovah's Authority: Acknowledge Him as the Most High over all the earth (Psalms 83:18).

  2. Rely on Jehovah's Strength: In times of weakness, draw from His everlasting strength (Isaiah 26:4).

  3. Rest in Jehovah's Peace: Let His presence bring you peace, even in the midst of life's storms (Judges 6:24).

  4. Celebrate Jehovah's Provision: Remember that He is your provider in every circumstance (Genesis 22:14).

  5. Proclaim Jehovah's Name: Share the significance of His name with others, just as the Jehovah Saints Ministry is doing in Pakistan.

Closing Scripture and Prayer

Scripture:"The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe." — Proverbs 18:10
