Jehovah Saint Leadership Report from Liberia

Report by: Nathaniel Gbah, President of Jehovah SaintDate: January 15, 2025

1. Overview of the Trip

My first trip as President of Jehovah Saint in Liberia began with a journey from Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, to River Cess County, Liberia. I was accompanied by two team members, and upon reaching River Cess, our treasurer, Mrs. Esther D. Gboyah, joined us from her home.

During our visit, we traveled to three towns in River Cess County, where we interacted with over 30 individuals from various walks of life. Among those we met were:

  • The homeless

  • Disadvantaged youth

  • People with disabilities

  • Teenage mothers

  • Widows

  • The elderly

These individuals face significant challenges, including poverty, lack of basic necessities, and limited access to resources. Despite their hardships, the people were excited to hear about Jehovah Saint and expressed a strong willingness to work with our organization. They believe that Jehovah Saint will bring much-needed change to their communities.

2. Challenges Identified

During our interactions, we identified several pressing needs in the communities we visited in River Cess County:

  • Lack of safe drinking water

  • Limited access to education

  • Inadequate shelters

The people expressed hope that through Jehovah Saint, their children will gain access to education, safe drinking water, and improved living conditions.

Scripture Reference:"Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked."— Psalm 82:3-4

3. Leadership Appointments in River Cess County

As part of the trip, I appointed leaders to oversee Jehovah Saint's activities in River Cess County. The following individuals accepted their positions and began their duties immediately:

  • Arthur Garziah — Chairman

  • Mary Joe — Co-Chair

  • Morris Gaylah — Co-Chair

These leaders will work closely with the organization to implement our vision and objectives in the region.

Scripture Reference:"Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety."— Proverbs 11:14

4. Land Acquisition for Jehovah Saint

During our visit, the local government expressed their willingness to sell land to Jehovah Saint based on our constitution, aims, and objectives. Arrangements have been made, and we will return in the coming months to finalize the details and decide on the best options for the organization.

This land will serve as a foundation for future projects, such as building schools, shelters, and water systems to address the community's needs.

Scripture Reference:"The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty."— Proverbs 21:5

5. Reflection on Liberia’s Challenges

Liberia has endured three major crises that have caused immense hardship and suffering:

  1. 14 years of civil unrest

  2. The 2014 Ebola outbreak

  3. The COVID-19 pandemic

These crises have left the country with increased numbers of widows, people with disabilities, disadvantaged youth, and teenage mothers. Despite these challenges, I am filled with gratitude and determination to lead Jehovah Saint in bringing hope and transformation to Liberia.

Scripture Reference:"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."— Psalm 34:18

6. Upcoming Plans

Our next trip is scheduled for Monday, January 27, 2025, where we will visit the Lloydsville Community in Grand Bassa County. During this three-day trip (January 27–29), we will:

  • Appoint volunteers to expand our team in this part of the country.

  • Continue building the structure of Jehovah Saint in rural areas.

Traveling outside major cities is challenging and costly, as it requires the use of motorbikes. However, as a leader, I am committed to ensuring that Jehovah Saint is established in every part of Liberia, no matter the obstacles.

Scripture Reference:"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."— Galatians 6:9

Closing Reflection

I am deeply humbled and honored to serve as the President of Jehovah Saint. This organization has the potential to bring transformation and hope to Liberia, and I am committed to leading with integrity and faith.

Let us continue to pray for Jehovah Saint and the communities we serve. Together, we can make a difference and bring glory to God through our work.

Closing Scripture:"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters."— Colossians 3:23
