Expanding the Jehovah Saints Ministry in Liberia

Opening Scripture:"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans."— Proverbs 16:3

Nathaniel Gbah, President of Jehovah Saints in Liberia, shares an update on the expansion of the ministry and the establishment of leadership across various counties in Liberia. He has appointed four chairmen to represent the ministry in specific counties and has personally visited three of these counties to ensure the work progresses smoothly. Nathaniel is in constant communication with the incoming chairman of Grand Bassa County and plans to visit additional counties in the coming weeks. Despite the challenges, he remains confident that the work will succeed by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.

This report highlights the biblical principles of leadership, perseverance in ministry, and trusting in God’s grace to accomplish His work.

1. Appointing Leaders for the Work

Nathaniel’s appointment of chairmen for each county reflects the biblical model of delegating leadership to ensure the effective growth of ministry. In Scripture, leaders were often appointed to oversee specific areas of responsibility to advance God’s work.

  • Delegating Responsibility:Moses appointed leaders to help him govern and manage the people, a principle of shared leadership.

    • Exodus 18:21: "But select capable men from all the people—men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain—and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens."

  • Establishing Leaders in the Church:The early church also appointed leaders to oversee ministry in different areas.

    • Titus 1:5: "The reason I left you in Crete was that you might put in order what was left unfinished and appoint elders in every town, as I directed you."

  • Leadership with Humility and Service:Leaders are called to serve with humility and a heart for God’s people.

    • Mark 10:43-44: "Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all."

2. Visiting and Strengthening the Work

Nathaniel’s commitment to visiting the counties and staying in contact with the chairmen demonstrates a dedication to strengthening the ministry and encouraging the leaders on the ground. This reflects the biblical principle of personal involvement and encouragement in ministry.

  • Encouraging Believers in Their Work:Paul often visited or wrote letters to encourage and strengthen the churches he planted.

    • Acts 15:36: "Some time later Paul said to Barnabas, 'Let us go back and visit the believers in all the towns where we preached the word of the Lord and see how they are doing.'"

  • Strengthening the Faith of Others:

    • 1 Thessalonians 5:11: "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."

  • Being Diligent in Ministry:Ministry often requires hard work and perseverance, but God blesses those who remain diligent.

    • Proverbs 10:4: "Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth."

3. Overcoming Challenges Through God’s Grace

Nathaniel acknowledges the challenges of ministry but expresses his faith that they will overcome through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. This reliance on God’s grace is a key biblical principle for facing trials and accomplishing His work.

  • God’s Grace is Sufficient:

    • 2 Corinthians 12:9: "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me."

  • Perseverance in Ministry:The work of ministry is often difficult, but God calls His people to persevere.

    • Galatians 6:9: "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."

  • Victory Through Christ:

    • Philippians 4:13: "I can do all this through him who gives me strength."

4. Current Progress and Future Plans

Nathaniel has already appointed chairmen in four counties, with plans to expand to others in the coming weeks. The current counties with chairmen include:

  • River Cess County

  • Margibi County

  • Montserrado County

  • Grand Bassa County

Future visits are planned for:

  • Lloydsville, Grand Bassa County

  • Bomi County

  • Grand Cape Mount County

  • Bong County

This structured approach demonstrates strategic planning, which is also a biblical principle in advancing God’s work.

  • Planning with God’s Guidance:

    • Proverbs 16:9: "In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps."

  • Faithful Stewardship of Responsibilities:

    • Luke 16:10: "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much."

5. Trusting in the Lord’s Grace

Nathaniel’s faith in the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ is the foundation of his confidence in overcoming challenges and fulfilling the ministry’s mission. The Bible consistently teaches that God’s grace is the source of strength and success in all things.

  • God Gives Strength for the Work:

    • Isaiah 40:29-31: "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

  • God’s Faithfulness in Ministry:

    • 1 Corinthians 15:58: "Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain."

Nathaniel Gbah’s efforts to expand the Jehovah Saints ministry in Liberia through the appointment of chairmen and personal visits to counties demonstrate strategic leadership, perseverance, and reliance on God’s grace. Despite the challenges, his faith in Christ remains strong, and he is confident that the work will succeed through God’s guidance and provision.

Let us continue to pray for Nathaniel, his team, and the chairmen in Liberia, asking God to bless their efforts, provide for their needs, and strengthen their faith as they work to advance His kingdom.

Closing Scripture:"For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding."— Proverbs 2:6
