Volunteer Policy for Jehovah Saints

Jehovah Saints, which includes Jehovah's House of Saints Online Ministry, Jehovah Saints Homeless Shelters, and Jehovah Saints Global Outreach, values the contributions of its volunteers in fulfilling our mission to serve others and share the love of Christ. Volunteers are essential to our ministry, and this policy outlines the expectations, rights, and responsibilities of all individuals who wish to volunteer with Jehovah Saints.

By volunteering with Jehovah Saints, you agree to abide by the guidelines set forth in this Volunteer Policy.

1. Mission and Values

Jehovah Saints is a faith-based nonprofit organization dedicated to:

  • Sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

  • Supporting individuals in need through homeless shelters, community outreach, and ministry programs.

  • Promoting love, compassion, and unity in accordance with biblical principles.

As a volunteer, you are expected to uphold these values and contribute to our mission with integrity and respect.

2. Eligibility to Volunteer

To volunteer with Jehovah Saints, individuals must:

  • Be at least 18 years old (or have parental/guardian consent if under 18).

  • Agree to abide by this Volunteer Policy and any additional rules or guidelines specific to the volunteer role.

  • Complete the volunteer application process, which may include an interview, reference checks, and/or a background check, depending on the role.

  • Be physically and mentally able to perform the tasks required for the volunteer position.

  • Commit to treating all individuals with respect and dignity, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Jehovah Saints does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, or any other characteristic and welcomes volunteers from diverse backgrounds who share our mission and values.

3. Volunteer Responsibilities

As a volunteer, you are expected to:

  1. Conduct Yourself Professionally: Act in a manner that reflects the values of Jehovah Saints, treating others with kindness, respect, and compassion.

  2. Follow Instructions: Adhere to the guidance and instructions provided by Jehovah Saints staff or team leaders.

  3. Respect Confidentiality: Maintain the confidentiality of any sensitive information you may encounter while volunteering.

  4. Be Reliable: Arrive on time for your scheduled volunteer shifts and notify your supervisor as soon as possible if you are unable to attend.

  5. Promote a Safe Environment: Follow all safety guidelines and report any unsafe conditions or incidents immediately.

  6. Refrain from Personal Gain: Do not use your volunteer position for personal, financial, or political gain.

4. Jehovah Saints’ Responsibilities

Jehovah Saints is committed to:

  1. Providing Training and Support: Volunteers will receive the necessary training and resources to perform their roles effectively.

  2. Creating a Safe Environment: Jehovah Saints will provide a safe and respectful environment for all volunteers.

  3. Recognizing Contributions: Volunteers will be acknowledged and appreciated for their time, effort, and dedication.

  4. Ensuring Fair Treatment: Volunteers will be treated with respect and fairness, and their concerns will be addressed promptly.

5. Volunteer Roles

Jehovah Saints offers a variety of volunteer opportunities, including but not limited to:

  • Assisting at homeless shelters (meal preparation, cleaning, organizing donations, etc.).

  • Supporting community outreach initiatives (food drives, clothing distributions, etc.).

  • Participating in ministry activities (prayer groups, church events, online ministry support).

  • Administrative support (data entry, event planning, communications).

  • Specialized skills (e.g., counseling, teaching, medical services).

Volunteers will be assigned roles based on their skills, interests, and availability.

6. Health and Safety

Jehovah Saints is committed to the health and safety of its volunteers. Volunteers are expected to:

  • Follow all health and safety guidelines provided during training or orientation.

  • Report any injuries, illnesses, or unsafe conditions immediately to their supervisor.

  • Avoid engaging in activities that may pose a risk to themselves or others.

Jehovah Saints reserves the right to suspend or terminate volunteer activities in the event of unsafe conditions or emergencies.

7. Background Checks

For certain volunteer roles, especially those involving vulnerable populations (e.g., children, homeless individuals), Jehovah Saints may require a background check. Volunteers will be informed if this is a requirement for their role, and all information will be handled confidentially.

8. Volunteer Conduct and Disciplinary Action

Volunteers must adhere to the policies and values of Jehovah Saints. The following behaviors are grounds for disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal:

  • Harassment, discrimination, or abuse of any kind.

  • Theft, fraud, or misuse of Jehovah Saints’ property or resources.

  • Failure to follow instructions or guidelines.

  • Repeated tardiness or unexcused absences.

  • Any behavior that compromises the safety or well-being of others.

Disciplinary actions will be handled on a case-by-case basis and may include a warning, suspension, or termination of the volunteer relationship.

9. Confidentiality

Volunteers may encounter sensitive information about individuals or the organization while serving. Volunteers must agree to:

  • Keep all personal or organizational information confidential.

  • Refrain from sharing any confidential information without prior authorization.

Failure to maintain confidentiality may result in immediate dismissal.

10. Volunteer Rights

As a volunteer, you have the right to:

  • Be treated with respect and dignity.

  • Receive appropriate training and support for your role.

  • Work in a safe and healthy environment.

  • Ask questions and seek clarification about your role or responsibilities.

  • Decline tasks or roles that you feel uncomfortable performing.

11. Volunteer Recognition

Jehovah Saints deeply values the contributions of its volunteers. We will recognize and celebrate the efforts of our volunteers through various means, such as thank-you events, certificates of appreciation, and public acknowledgments.

12. Ending the Volunteer Relationship

Volunteers are free to end their service with Jehovah Saints at any time. We request that volunteers provide as much notice as possible so we can adjust accordingly. Similarly, Jehovah Saints reserves the right to end a volunteer’s service if it is deemed necessary.

13. Changes to the Volunteer Policy

Jehovah Saints reserves the right to update or modify this Volunteer Policy at any time. Volunteers will be notified of any significant changes, and the updated policy will be made available.
