    Code of Conduct for Community Engagement Effective Date: 12/22/2024 At Jehovah Saints, which includes Jehovah's House of Saints Online Ministry, Jehovah Saints Homeless Shelters, and Jehovah Saints Global Outreach, we are committed to fostering a Christ-centered, respectful, and welcoming community. This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for all individuals engaging with our community, whether online or in person, to ensure a safe and uplifting environment for everyone. By participating in Jehovah Saints’ community forums, events, programs, or any other activities, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct. 1. Core Values Our community is built on the following biblical principles: Love: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Mark 12:31) Respect: “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:32) Unity: “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1) Integrity: “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” (Colossians 3:23) These values guide all interactions within our community. 2. Expected Behavior All participants in Jehovah Saints’ community are expected to: Treat others with respect, kindness, and compassion, regardless of their background, beliefs, or opinions. Refrain from using offensive, discriminatory, or hateful language. Engage in constructive and respectful discussions, even when disagreeing. Uphold honesty and integrity in all interactions. Respect the privacy and confidentiality of others. Follow all applicable laws and regulations, as well as the rules of the specific event, program, or platform. 3. Prohibited Behavior The following behaviors are strictly prohibited in Jehovah Saints’ community: Harassment or Bullying: This includes verbal abuse, threats, intimidation, or any form of harassment based on race, ethnicity, gender, religion, disability, or any other characteristic. Hate Speech or Discrimination: Any language or behavior that promotes hate, prejudice, or discrimination will not be tolerated. Disruptive Behavior: This includes trolling, spamming, or intentionally derailing discussions.     Abortion: When the Soul is Connected The Miraculous Journey of Life: Heartbeat, Soul, and Divine Wisdom The beginning of life is marked by incredible milestones, both scientifically and spiritually. One such significant event is the development of a baby's heartbeat. We delve into the fascinating interplay between the physical and spiritual aspects of life, exploring the connection between the heartbeat and the soul, and the divine wisdom that shapes our understanding of existence. The Beginning of a Heartbeat A baby in the womb typically develops a heartbeat around 5 to 6 weeks after conception. At this stage, the heart is just beginning to form, and the heartbeat is often detectable via ultrasound. It's a crucial and exciting milestone in early pregnancy. Biblical Scripture: "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb." (Psalm 139:13) The Connection Between Heartbeat and Soul Many believe that the heartbeat signifies the connection of the soul to the body. The soul, imbued with electrical energy, connects to an area called the sinus node in the heart. This connection facilitates the generation of electrical impulses throughout the body, sending messages from the soul to the brain. It takes less than a second for these messages to travel, highlighting the profound link between our spiritual and physical existence. They have 5 to 6 weeks to do so, before the soul connects to the body producing electrical impulses in the body, causing the heart to beat. This indicates the presence of the soul.     Grievance Policy For Jehovah Saints Homeless Shelters Purpose Jehovah Saints Homeless Shelters are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all guests, staff, and volunteers. This Grievance Policy provides a structured process for addressing concerns, complaints, or disputes in a fair, transparent, and timely manner. Scope This policy applies to all individuals involved with Jehovah Saints Homeless Shelters, including guests, staff, volunteers, and visitors. Policy Statement Jehovah Saints Homeless Shelters encourage open communication and strive to resolve grievances promptly and equitably. All grievances will be taken seriously, investigated thoroughly, and handled with confidentiality and respect. Definition of a Grievance A grievance is any concern, complaint, or issue raised by an individual regarding: Violations of shelter policies or rules. Harassment, discrimination, or mistreatment. Unsafe or unsanitary conditions. Disputes with staff, volunteers, or other guests. Any other matter that negatively impacts the individual’s experience at the shelter. Grievance Procedure Step 1: Informal Resolution Individuals are encouraged to address concerns directly with the person(s) involved, if they feel safe and comfortable doing so. If the issue cannot be resolved informally, or if the individual is uncomfortable addressing it directly, they may proceed to Step 2. Step 2: Filing a Formal Grievance Submission: Submit a formal grievance in writing using the shelter’s Grievance Form (available at the front desk or from staff). Include details such as the nature of the grievance, date and time of the incident, individuals involved, and any supporting evidence. Submission Options: Hand the completed form to a staff member or place it in the designated grievance box. Alternatively, grievances can be submitted via email or other approved methods. Step 3: Review and Investigation Acknowledgment: The grievance will be acknowledged within 48 hours of submission. Investigation: Shelter management or a designated grievance officer will investigate the matter thoroughly. This may include interviews with the complainant, witnesses, and the person(s) involved, as well as a review of relevant documentation. Confidentiality: All grievances will be handled with confidentiality, and information will only be shared on a need-to-know basis. Step 4: Resolution and Response Decision: A written decision will be provided to the complainant within 7 business days of the grievance being submitted, unless additional time is required for a thorough investigation. The decision will include findings, actions to be taken (if any), and steps to prevent similar issues in the future. Appeal: If the complainant is not satisfied with the resolution, they may submit an appeal in writing to the shelter director within 5 business days of receiving the decision. The appeal will be reviewed, and a final decision will be provided within 10 business days. Record-Keeping All grievances, investigations, and resolutions will be documented and securely stored for a minimum of 12 months, ensuring compliance with confidentiality policies. Policy Review This Grievance Policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it remains effective, fair, and aligned with best practices and legal requirements.     Jehovah Saints Homeless Shelters Conflict of Interest Policy ARTICLE I: PURPOSE The purpose of this Conflict of Interest Policy is to protect the interests of Jehovah Saints Homeless Shelters (hereinafter referred to as the "Organization") when it is contemplating entering into a transaction or arrangement that might benefit the private interests of a board member, officer, or key employee. This policy is intended to ensure that all decisions made on behalf of the Organization are in its best interest and comply with applicable legal and ethical standards. ARTICLE II: DEFINITIONS Conflict of Interest A conflict of interest arises when a person in a position of authority over the Organization (e.g., a board member, officer, or key employee) has a financial, personal, or professional interest that could interfere with their duty to act in the best interests of the Organization. Examples include, but are not limited to: A financial interest in a business or entity that does business with the Organization. A personal or familial relationship with an individual or entity that benefits from the Organization’s decisions. Receipt of gifts, favors, or other benefits from individuals or entities that do business with the Organization. Interested Person Any board member, officer, or key employee of the Organization who has a direct or indirect financial interest, as defined below, is considered an "interested person." Financial Interest A person has a financial interest if they, or a member of their immediate family, have: An ownership or investment interest in any entity that does business with the Organization. A compensation arrangement with the Organization or with any entity or individual with which the Organization has a transaction or arrangement. A potential ownership, investment interest, or compensation arrangement with any entity or individual with which the Organization is negotiating a transaction or arrangement. ARTICLE III: DUTY TO DISCLOSE Disclosure Requirements Interested persons must disclose any actual, perceived, or potential conflicts of interest to the Board of Directors at the earliest possible time. Disclosure must include the nature of the financial or personal interest and any relevant facts. Annual Disclosure All board members, officers, and key employees are required to complete an Annual Disclosure Form (see Appendix) and update it promptly if any changes occur during the year. ARTICLE IV: PROCEDURES Determining Whether a Conflict of Interest Exists After disclosure of a potential conflict of interest, the interested person shall leave the meeting while the Board discusses and votes on whether a conflict of interest exists. The Board shall determine by majority vote whether the disclosed interest presents a conflict. Addressing the Conflict of Interest If the Board determines that a conflict of interest exists, it shall take appropriate action, which may include: Prohibiting the interested person from participating in discussions or decisions related to the matter. Seeking alternative arrangements or transactions that do not involve the interested person. Approving the transaction or arrangement only if: It is in the best interest of the Organization. It is fair and reasonable. It complies with applicable laws and regulations. Recusal The interested person shall not participate in any discussions, deliberations, or votes related to the matter giving rise to the conflict of interest. Documentation The minutes of the meeting shall document: The nature of the conflict of interest. The Board’s decision regarding the conflict. Any actions taken to address the conflict. The names of those present during discussions and votes. ARTICLE V: VIOLATIONS OF THE POLICY Failure to Disclose If the Board has reasonable cause to believe that an individual has failed to disclose a conflict of interest, it shall inform the individual and provide an opportunity for them to explain the alleged failure to disclose. Corrective Action If, after hearing the response and conducting further investigation, the Board determines that the individual intentionally failed to disclose a conflict of interest, it may take appropriate corrective action, including removal from their position. ARTICLE VI: COMPENSATION Compensation Decisions A voting member of the Board of Directors who receives compensation, directly or indirectly, from the Organization for services is precluded from voting on matters pertaining to their compensation. Committee Membership No voting member of any committee whose jurisdiction includes compensation matters and who receives compensation from the Organization may participate in discussions or votes on their own compensation. ARTICLE VII: PERIODIC REVIEWS To ensure the Organization operates in a manner consistent with its tax-exempt purpose and does not engage in activities that could jeopardize its tax-exempt status, the Board shall conduct periodic reviews. These reviews shall include: Whether compensation arrangements and benefits are reasonable and consistent with market standards. Whether partnerships, joint ventures, and arrangements with other organizations conform to the Organization’s mission and policies. ARTICLE VIII: USE OF OUTSIDE EXPERTS When conducting reviews or addressing conflicts of interest, the Organization may, but is not required to, use outside experts. The use of outside experts does not relieve the Board of its responsibility to ensure that all decisions are made in the best interest of the Organization.     The Story of the Living Word Across the World In a small village nestled in the mountains of Ethiopia, an elderly woman named Asha sat on her wooden stool, holding a well-worn copy of the Bible in her hands. It was meant to reach every nation.” The Early Translations The man led Asha to another shelf, where she saw ancient manuscripts in languages she didn’t recognize. “These are the earliest translations,” he explained. “The Septuagint, a Greek translation of the Hebrew Scriptures, was made around 300 BC for Jews living in Alexandria who no longer spoke Hebrew. Then came the Peshitta, a Syriac translation, and the Latin Vulgate, translated by St. Jerome in the 4th century. But it’s just one of many. Millions of people are still waiting to hear God’s Word in their heart language.” Asha felt a pang of sadness. “What can be done?” “God is raising up people to complete the work,” the man said. “Translators, linguists, and missionaries are working tirelessly to bring the Bible to every tribe and tongue.
