Faith-Based Policy

For Jehovah Saints Homeless Shelters

Purpose

Jehovah Saints Homeless Shelters are faith-based organizations rooted in Christian principles, committed to serving individuals in need with compassion, dignity, and respect. This Faith-Based Policy outlines how faith informs our mission, services, and interactions while ensuring inclusivity and respect for individuals of all beliefs or backgrounds.

Policy Statement

Jehovah Saints Homeless Shelters operate from a foundation of Christian faith, emphasizing love, service, and hope. While our programs and services are inspired by our faith, we are committed to welcoming and supporting individuals of all faiths, as well as those who do not identify with any faith tradition.

Key Principles

  1. Faith as the Foundation of Service

    • Our mission is guided by Christian values such as compassion, humility, and service to others.

    • We strive to create an environment that reflects these values in all interactions, programs, and services.

  2. Inclusivity and Non-Discrimination

    • We welcome all individuals, regardless of their faith, beliefs, race, gender, sexual orientation, or cultural background.

    • Participation in religious activities is always voluntary and never a requirement for receiving shelter, food, or other services.

  3. Voluntary Faith-Based Activities

    • Guests are invited to participate in optional faith-based activities such as prayer, Bible studies, worship services, or spiritual counseling.

    • No guest will ever be pressured or required to participate in religious activities to access shelter services or support.

  4. Respect for Diverse Beliefs

    • We respect the beliefs, practices, and traditions of all individuals.

    • Guests are expected to show mutual respect for the faith practices of others and refrain from disruptive or disrespectful behavior during faith-based activities.

  5. Staff and Volunteer Conduct

    • Staff and volunteers are expected to embody the values of the organization in their words and actions, demonstrating kindness, patience, and respect.

    • Proselytizing or pressuring guests to adopt specific beliefs is strictly prohibited.

  6. Partnerships and Collaborations

    • Jehovah Saints Homeless Shelters may collaborate with other faith-based or secular organizations to enhance the services provided, maintaining alignment with our mission and values.

Faith in Action

  • Daily Practices: Our shelters may incorporate faith-based elements into daily routines, such as offering a prayer before meals or providing access to spiritual resources for those who seek them.

  • Counseling and Support: Faith-based counseling and emotional support are available for guests who request it, provided by trained staff or volunteers.

  • Community Building: We aim to foster a sense of hope, belonging, and community by encouraging kindness, forgiveness, and mutual support among staff, volunteers, and guests.

Conflict Resolution

  • If a guest feels uncomfortable or excluded due to faith-based practices, they are encouraged to address their concerns with shelter staff or management.

  • Jehovah Saints Homeless Shelters are committed to resolving such concerns respectfully and promptly, ensuring all guests feel safe and valued.

Policy Review

This Faith-Based Policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it continues to reflect our mission, values, and commitment to inclusivity.

Jehovah Saints Homeless Shelters are dedicated to serving all individuals with love and respect, living out our faith through compassionate action while honoring the dignity and beliefs of everyone we serve.
